Courses of study

Charitable and Social Work

is a course of studies intended for those interested in social work, particularly in the sphere of social services. Its aim is to provide overall preparation of its graduates for the professions of social workers and workers in social services, i.e. to equip them with all the theoretical as well as practical knowledge and skills necessary for the performance of these demanding professions. Graduates will have studied individual theoretical disciplines related to social work and have their practical experience verified and supervised as part of their internships which make up 30% of the study programme. The course is available in both a full-time as well as a part-time study format. The high quality of the studies is best seen in the fact that there are practically no unemployed graduates as they are in extreme demand on the job market with a whole spectrum of employers.

Profile of the graduate

Our graduates find employment in the sectors of non-profit, church, state, or governmental organisations. Also of particular interest is the fact that a number of our graduates continue to study in master’s degree study programmes at universities in the Czech Republic as well as abroad.

Social and humanitarian work

In September 2003, a second course of studies was launched, Social and humanitarian work, a unique programme within the Czech Republic. It focuses on work with minorities, qualified assistance to migrants or immigrants, and professional work within the sphere of humanitarian assistance. The course includes a wide range of innovative teaching activities and is only available in the form of a full-time course.

This inventive study programme was conceived on the grounds of an analysis of certain trends in social issues and current needs on the part of employers. It responds to a calling from humanitarian organisations for special and systematic preparation of humanitarian workers and the needs of insitutions providing assistance to minority groups, migrants and immigrants.

Profile of the graduate

Graduates are prepared for work in various types of organisations and insitutions providing assistance to immigrants or minorities within the Czech Republic as well as abroad within the framework of humanitarian assistance. They are equipped with both theoretical as well as practical knowledge and skills, including stress management, necessary for the performance of these demanding professions.
